P.E.I.’s Chief Public Health Office announced one new case of COVID-19 April 1.
The new case is a person under the age of 19, who is a close contact of a previously reported case. The individual, who has been in self-isolation since being identified as a close contact, will continue to isolate for 14 days and is being followed by public health daily.
There are now 13 active cases of COVID-19 on the Island, with 160 since the start of the pandemic.
Dr. Heather Morrison, chief public health officer, cautioned Islanders against hosting large gatherings this Easter weekend.
“Keep gatherings small and consistent this long weekend and continue to be vigilant in following public health measures,” she said in the Thursday statement.
