The government has looked at incorporating vaccination data into its NHS Covid-19 tracing app amid calls for domestic vaccination passports.
The app’s development team have investigated how people could upload their vaccination details into the existing system, according to a source close to the project.
“We would be negligent if we would not look into integration of vaccination data into the app”, the source said.
However, a government spokesman insisted ministers had “no plans” to use the app, which has had nearly 22 million downloads, to allow people to prove their vaccination status.
Boris Johnson has opposed domestic vaccination passports amid fears it would be potentially discriminatory to place restrictions on people who have not been vaccinated. However, he has not ruled out that some
